Do you know how much data is managed by Facebook everyday?

According to TechCrunch post, Facebook manages 500+ Terabytes of data per day. See details below:

  • Facebook system process 2.5 billion pieces of content every day
  • 500+ Terabytes of data every day
  • 2.7 billion likes and 300 million photos posted every day
  • It scans 105 terabytes of data in every 30 minutes

And the other thing to mention is, Facebook stores 100 petabytes of data in a single Hadoop disk cluster.

Gujarat will get Cyber lab to fight Cyber Crime

According to DSCI – Data Security Council of India, the report from NCRB (National Crime Records Bureau),  the rising no. of cyber crimes in Gujarat has prompted DSCI to help state police to start cyber labs in every state in India.

Right now 8 such labs are functioning in India including Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

Now, Forensic Science office at Gandhinagar, Gujarat has computer forensic facilities and Ahmedabad crime branch is going for adding new cyber crime department.

TRAI’s guidlines for spam SMS and calls

As per new TRAI Draft guidlines, now telemarketers sending spam SMS and spam calling will be treated severely and will be punished between Rs500 to service termination and banning them for a year.

If all goes right, after the Delhi high court’s order to lift the limit on 200 SMS per day, this will help very effectively control the spammers.

All you have to do is, send an SMS to 1909 in a format: “Short description of communication, number, date in dd/mm/yy format” and it will be taken care of.

Airtel punished for blocking website

Bharti Airtel, India’s biggest GSM service provider, has been punished for blocking torrent site on mobile GPRS to a consumer in Karnatak.

It is observed that Consumer repeatedly contacted Nodal officer with enough proof that the banned site is not listed in the court order which was sited in the company’s reason to block the site, but even Nodal officer did not respond him responsibly and ignored him several times.

Finally, consumer approached District Consumer Forum and after brief hearing, consumer forum ruled in favour of the consumer penalising Airtel for blocking the website.

Gujarat will allow public transport by private companies in 180 cities

As per the news from “Chitralekha” – Leading Gujarati Magazine, Gujarat Urban Development Department will allow all Municiple corporations including 180 towns to permit private players to start Public Transport Service.

The decision is taken as a part of Govt. of Gujarat’s 2000 cr Urban Mobility Plan.
